Gamification

1.) Why is it a good idea to prepare the students for the future? What kind of future are they being prepared for?

2.) Do you think that companies are tricking people into paying for these simple games?

3.) Do you believe that some of these games could have became this popular even if it wasn't for Facebook?

Graphic Design: What's Going On In This Design?

My Partner is William Howard.

  • This advertisement is from the Magazine called Wired.

  • The product being marketed is Bluetooth Headsets.
  1. Message Content: The content of the message is very descriptive and helpfully explains each of the Bluetooth Headsets. They also give pros and cons.

  2. Size and Shape: The add covers up one side of a page. It's fairly big and the shape is easy to follow.

  3. Readability: The add is very clear and easy to read. The text is a dark color which makes it very readable.

  4. Needs the Audience: It understands the problems that people reading the add might encounter while trying to find the right Bluetooth headset for them. It even understands that people like to buy things that both look attractive and are good quality.

  5. Use of Proven Design Principles and Elements:

Design Principles: proportion and scale- The add proportioned so that the visuals take up half of the page and the writing does also.

Design Elements: Color- Nice color that stands out and catches my eye. Form and Shape- The form and shape of the add is also very effective. It presents the product in a nice but easily understabdable way.

Conclusion:

1. What are trends? Why is it important to identify them prior to graphic design?

---Trends are what is in or popular at the time and what people seem to really be in to. They are important so that graphic designers know what they need to get the publics attention.

2. How does human nature play a role in how a product is marketed to a specific demographic group?

---Human nature plays a role in how a product is marketed because it is human nature to look for products that interest you. And it's human nature for people to try and create products that will most likely attract a large amount of people of that specific demographic group.

3. How is a potential audience identified?

---A potential audience is identified by determining a group/or groups of people that participate in certain activities and what not. If you are making a certain skateboard product then your audience will obviously be skaters and people who skate, or also store owners that want to cary the product in there stores.

4. What must you discover about the target audience prior to graphic design?

---You must discover the kind of things your audience likes and is interested in. And also you must find out what their favorite things about those products are so that can give you an idea about creating your product.

  1. 1.) The phone has balance and proportion/scale. Both sides of the phone are balanced and look equal.

2.) The shape of the phone is rectangular and very large, which I personally really like about the phone.

1.) The biggest part of choosing a guitar for me (Besides the sound of it) is the way it looks. The shape and the color of the guitar is what I love about it.

2.) The texture of the body of the guitar is very smooth and it feels amazing. The fretboard is really easy to slide up and down.

1.) Cars utilize many of the design elements and principles.
2.) Color, texture, shape, balance, proportion and scale. When somebody is going to buy a car they look and pay attention to all of these. If you dont like on of theses elements then you most likely wont buy the car.

This picture of my phone shows a special feature that it has. My phone has a kick-stand on the back of it. This allows for watching videos by just laying the phone on it's side and the kick-stand holds it up.

Content is King.

1.) The one thing that I love doing more than anything is playing guitar. It is my main interest and hobby that I have.

2.) Almost all bands and musicians use blogging to promote their music. Also guitar companies and such use blogging to share about new models coming out and things of that sort.

3.) I could see myself blogging about music. I write music and I could definitely see myself blogging about my music.

Facebook

FACEBOOK!
I saw the picture that Mr. Olsen had posted that had the Middle Eastern looking men holding up a sign that said "Facebook" on it. They were also hold up other signs that were written in other languages so I have no idea what they were saying. But my interpretation of the picture is that the social networking site Facebook is taking over. It's everywhere now. Everybody that I know has a Facebook and I even know people from other countries that have accounts on Facebook. Not just social networking in general but also Facebook is growing like crazy and becoming bigger than ever before and is becoming known world wide. This just goes to show you how far technology has come and what a big part of our lives it is now.

Engineering Design: Project 2.4.1 - Design Project

My partner is Jake.
  • The problem that we were faced with was choosing a design brief and designing it with the CAD software.

  • We decided to make the candy dispenser because we both really like candy and since we both share an interest in it, it was the best one to choose.

  • First we had to define the problem which was understanding what it was that we had to do. Then we had to brainstorm with a possible idea for our candy dispenser and play around with it. There were constraints for the design but we sort of needed to change it up a little bit for our desing. The last thing is to communicate the results of our design. We only made one design and were very happy with it and we couldnt come up with any better ideas.
